DR. MINAN FARIS
DIRECTOR STRATEGY & INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Minan Faris graduated from KSMA in General Medicine with post graduation in General Surgery. He has worked and volunteered in Central Asia and Eastern Europe with NGOs like UN, USAID, MSF, ICRC, IFES, SHILALE and SEBAT as a clinician, educator and consultant. He continues to work as a health care provider and educator in Emergency Medical Services in the USA.
Being an American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor for the past decade he has taught several AHA certified BLS and ACLS courses in the valley. Being an AHA instructor he has been able to coordinate and facilitate KLS instructors with certifications through AHA.
His dream is to see the medical providers in the valley self sufficient and well trained to be able to prepare and operate for medical emergencies both in and out of hospital scenarios.
He believes that there is no reason for a person to lose his/her life for usual correctable medical emergencies such as an injured extremity, which can be prevented by simply applying pressure or tourniquet.
DR. KHURSHID IQBAL
DIRECTOR KLS
Dr. Khurshid Iqbal is Program Director for KLS in Kashmir. A dedicated professional with more than 35 years of experience. After his MBBS degree from Government Medical College, Jammu in 1978, he achieved a Master of Science degree in General Surgery.
In addition to his role as the KLS Program Director, Dr. Iqbal has also served as a Consultant Surgeon with Jammu & Kashmir Health Services for the last ten years. Prior to his current role, Dr. Iqbal was a Surgeon in the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia for more than 6 Years, in the Islamic Republic of Iran for two years and in Malaysia as a Lecturer in Medical College at Sarawak for one Year.
DR. FAROOQ KHAN
KLS INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Farooq Khan is one of the first American Heart Association volunteer instructor certified by Kashmir Life Support (KLS). With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Khan was one of the first instructors to join the team and has played a pivotal role in keeping the KLS Certification process at it’s highest standard. Dr. Khan completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Srinagar, Kashmir in 1994 and then went on to become an MD in Anesthesiology from Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Kashmir in 2000.
Dr. Farooq Khan continues to help shape the KLS program to meet and exceed AHA requirements and help his students learn in the best possible training environment. His expertise has helped us expand the program and incorporate the latest medical training techniques. In addition to his role as a KLS Instructor, Dr. Khan serves as an Anesthesiologist, Intensivist and Emergency Physician/Trainer.
DR. MUDASIR QADRI
KLS INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Syed Mudasir Qadri is an American Heart Association certified Instructor with Kashmir Life Support (KLS). With over 10 years of experience, Dr. Qadri has been vital in shaping the KLS program as he was one of the first instructors to join the team. Dr. Qadri completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Srinagar, Kashmir in 2002 and then went on to become an MD in Internal Medicine from Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Kashmir in 2006.

In addition to his role as a KLS Instructor, Dr. Khan serves as an Assistant Professor, Department of Internal Medicine at SKIMS.
DR. BASHARAT BUCHH
KLS INSTRUCTOR
After completing MBBS and MD Pediatrics from Government Medical College, Srinagar, India, Dr. Basharat Buchh moved to the U.S. He completed his Pediatrics Residency at Texas Tech University followed by his Neonatal-Perinatal fellowship at the University Of Chicago. He is currently employed as an attending neonatologist at the Memorial Children Hospital South Bend, Indiana, where he also serves as the medical director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Basharat is an AAP certified NALS instructor.
DR. JAVEED IQBAL
KLS INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Javeed Iqbal is the Kashmir NRP/PALS Program Co-ordinator for the Guru Charitable Foundation. He completed his MBBS from the Jammu University and MD Pediatrics from SKIMS in 2007. Dr Iqbal works as an assistant professor in the department of pediatrics at SKIMS. His special interest is in pediatric pulmonology, especially in the care of pediatric cystic fibrosis and bronchial asthma.
SHIREEN GURU
KLS JUNIOR INSTRUCTOR
Shireen A. Guru is a volunteer with Kashmir Life support. She has worked on adapting the American Heart Association curriculum for Basic Life Support for the future KLS Junior program to be integrated among Kashmir youth. She intends to hand off the programs development to (insert name) as she completes her education, though she remains a AHA certified instructor.. As she is still in her collegiate years, Shireen hopes to continue her work with KLS from her undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Our staff and volunteers are the backbone of KLS. While operating in the background, their dedication and dogged pursuit of excellence are the keys to success of our training programs. Simply put, without their untiring efforts KLS would not be half of what it is today. Without their continued support, It will not be half of what it can be in the future.
